Senator Andy Kim of New Jersey, the first Korean American to be elected to the United States Senate, joined the Institute for Korean Studies at The George Washington University for a conversation about the enduring alliance between the United States and the Republic of Korea. Senator Kim addressed the continued importance of the United States’ commitment to such strategic alliances, not just for America’s long-term security and prosperity, not just for the Indo-Pacific region, but for the greater Indo-Pacific region as well. He shared insights as a former career national security official, as well as a member of Congress, who, in this moment of instability and chaos in American politics, is personally working to be a bridge between the United States and Korea, including as a voice for Asian American communities.
