Volpe Looks Different… Caballero Might Be Pushing Him [hAUbBKgvncv]
Anthony Volpe looked a lot more aggressive in this game, and maybe José Caballero coming back soon is giving him some extra motivation. Caballero is already working out while injured, and you know he’s coming back for that shortstop job. Meanwhile, Volpe had a double, stole bases, got another hit, and made an amazing slide at home to avoid the tag and score. The Blue Jays didn’t even challenge the play, and Volpe getting that left hand in there was a great piece of baserunning. I also noticed something interesting — when Austin Wells isn’t hitting behind him and Ben Rice is in the catcher spot, Volpe seems more aggressive and less focused on just walking. At the end of the day, the Yankees should really think about what Michael Kay brought up: Paul Goldschmidt at first base full time, Ben Rice catching more, and Austin Wells possibly being the odd man out. Yankees fans, is this the version of Volpe we need to see more often? #Yankees #AnthonyVolpe #JoseCaballero
