Charley Hull has doubled down on her response to criticism of the viral fake scratch-card prank involving her close friend Adsy. Hull explains that outsiders do not understand their relationship. She describes Adsy as a big brother, one of her best friends and the “king of pranks”. According to Hull, he thought the joke was brilliant, showed the video to other people and texted her to say it had produced one of the funniest weeks of his life. Her message to the critics is direct: People need to chill out. Hull says she does not care whether strangers understand her sense of humour. Her friends understand it, and that is why they are her friends. She would never play the same joke on someone who could not take it, but knew Adsy would find it hilarious. The English star also says negative comments make her want to perform better. She believes fear of making mistakes can stop people living the life they want and says she has no intention of allowing online criticism to determine how she behaves. Hull slept only around three hours after struggling to wind down from a late finish, heavy rain and lingering adrenaline. She jokes that her sleep patterns are unusual: she can function on two hours temporarily, has slept for 16 hours and once remained asleep for 20. On the course, Hull dealt with back soreness, two difficult divot lies and a different wind direction. She also had to reset after a camera distraction while trying to concentrate. Despite those challenges, she remains within reach heading into the weekend and believes her first-tee nerves have settled.
