Jake’s scar may never fully heal. In Avatar: Fire and Ash, the stitched wound on Jake Sully’s cheek is still clearly visible after his brutal fight against Miles Quaritch in Avatar: The Way of Water. And there’s actually a deeper reason why that scar could remain permanently. Even though Jake lives as one of the Na’vi, his body is not a natural Na’vi body. It’s an Avatar body, a genetically engineered hybrid created by Resources Development Administration using a mix of human and Na’vi DNA. Because of that, Jake’s body may not heal the same way a true Na’vi body would. The Na’vi were born naturally on Pandora and evolved with the planet for thousands of years, while Avatar bodies were artificially created by humans. That biological difference could explain why major injuries leave lasting scars on Jake’s body. And now that Jake is no longer connected to the advanced medical facilities of the RDA, healing severe wounds completely becomes even more difficult. So the scar on his cheek may become a permanent reminder of the war, his fight with Quaritch, and the fact that Jake Sully will always be caught between two worlds.
