Michael Brennan ’69 had long prayed for peace through St. André Bessette—first for strangers, and later for his brother, Tom, who had been diagnosed with terminal brain cancer. On the morning Tom passed, Michael noticed a young man sitting quietly at the foot of the bed. He was there to comfort and pray, he said. When Michael thanked him and asked his name, the young man simply replied, “André.” “Was it an angel? A stranger with a coincidental name? Was it St. André himself?
