Michael Brennan Dressed Up as Rickie Fowler — Now He’s Chasing a PGA TOUR Win [q4TXt22hMyX]

Michael Brennan reached 14-under par at the Rocket Classic and placed himself in position to compete for a victory that could transform his season. A win would send Brennan to Memphis for the FedExCup Playoffs. But after allowing the Playoffs race to place too much pressure on him the previous week, Brennan is trying to approach this opportunity differently. His Sunday strategy is based on two simple ideas: Stay where his feet are. Divide the round into three-hole goals. Brennan admits he got ahead of himself during the 3M Open. Sitting outside the top 70 with the postseason approaching, he allowed the possible result to interfere with his normal rhythm and decision-making. That experience taught him to reduce the final round into manageable sections rather than thinking about the trophy, Memphis or the FedExCup standings. His third round began with a hot start and a confident putting performance. Brennan felt positive over the ball and quickly established that he had a game capable of producing another low score. The day also created an extraordinary full-circle moment. Brennan grew up idolising Rickie Fowler and once dressed up as him. His father recently sent him an old photograph of the costume, complete with a message from Fowler looking forward to playing a future U.S. Open practice round together. Years later, Brennan and Fowler shared the PGA TOUR stage while both competing near the top of the leaderboard. Brennan also returns to an area containing another important memory. Approximately one year earlier, he earned his first professional victory at Windsor on PGA TOUR Americas. He hopes some of those positive feelings carry into the final round. Not every moment Saturday was perfect. Brennan was annoyed after leaving what he described as a straightforward chip short on the 18th. Still, he was able to separate that mistake from the quality of the entire round.
