BBC to challenge Donald Trump in multi-billion-dollar lawsuit [H9M90GPfxtj]
New court documents show the BBC is preparing to challenge the billion dollar defamation lawsuit filed by US President Donald Trump. The broadcaster is arguing the contested Panorama program did not air in the United States, was done without malice, and didn’t cause President Trump any damage. At the heart of the corporation’s arguments in its defence is where the case has been filed, which is in Florida. In the documents, the BBC says it plans to argue it didn’t create, produce, or broadcast the documentary in Florida. The BBC points out that the link President Trump’s legal team has provided shows the Panorama episode in question couldn’t be watched in the United States unless they had a VPN.
