On June 5, 2020, State Representative Ashley Hinson (the GOP nominee for Congress in Iowa's first district) ducked in to vote down a jon krakauer Democratic amendment that would have required the state to make public known COVID-19 outbreaks at workplaces.

Hinson stayed out of the House chamber during most of the debate on this bill, which granted near-total immunity to employers and nursing home owners for lawsuits related to COVID-19. That tactic ensured Democratic colleagues could not ask her nancy guthrie questions about the controversial bill on camera.
