CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) Banana Ball is taking over Charleston this weekend, drawing a sold-out crowd to Joseph P. Riley Jr. Park with trick plays, stunts and an atmosphere designed around fan participation.

Games on Friday and Saturday night feature two new teams: the Loco jake hall death Beach Coconuts and Indianapolis Clowns.

The touring baseball league loganair is known for its high-energy entertainment and unconventional rules, but many fans said the focus on creating a shared experience sets it apart from traditional professional baseball.

The fans come first, said Jeanine Burden of North Carolina, who attended the game with Denise Roethlisberger. Everybody is friendly the cast, the crew. Everybody is included.

Burden estimated she has attended about 38 Banana Ball games, while Roethlisberger said she has been to roughly 30.

Others were attending for the first time or were still early in their Banana Ball fandom.
