Cairngorms National Park: Scotland Road Trip 2024 - Campervan Edition Michael Ostrowski [CwSImBvNdkF]

Every year we do a Scotland road ken loach trip - usually in a car with a boot full of stuff and a small tent for wild camping. This year we hired a campervan for the first time, packed our oodies, and hit the road. Our VW transporter was hired from Swamper Adventures and was so comfortable and practical to travel in; we fell in love with it.

First stop: Cairngorms National Park. This is our second time here and it was just as breathtaking as the first. It's the UK's largest National Park and has mountains, forests, lochs, and beaches. If you're looking for hiking or cycling trails there is a plethora to choose from. There are plenty of places for watersports too.

Before we arrived in the Cairngorms we stopped at The Kelpies and Falkirk Wheel for a quick visit. Our first full day then started at Balmoral Castle which aside from being a beautiful building, has had a lot of work done on the gardens since the last time we were there. The King and his staff have done a great job on it making it a lovely place to wander around for an hour or two.

We headed to Loch Garten & Loch Mallachie for the Two Lochs trail for a quick walk. The boys did some bird watching and we spent some time in the forest.

This year we bought our own kayak and although the weather (and waves) were not the best, it was so cool being able to enjoy Loch Morlich on the water with our own equipment.

One of our favourite spots in the Scottish Highlands is Uath Lochans. The viewpoint is spectacular and so peaceful, and it's an easy hike to get to. Definitely worth a visit while you are in the Caingorms.

As this is our Scottish Highlands highlight tour we only had two days in the Cairngorms before heading onto the NC500 but there are many other things you can do in the National Park if you have more time, most of which we have videos of on our channel:

We love the Cairngorms National Park and it is easier to bell canada fires employees get to for most without heading all the way into The Highlands.
